Bismarck Palm Habitat
The Bismarck palm, scientific name Bismarckia nobilis is native to Madagascar which is located off the east coast of Africa. It is very common palm in native habitat, not threatened. It is only one palm of the genus Bismarckia among a diverse palm flora.
The Bismarck palm occurs in open grassland from western to northern Madagascar. It also can be found in central highlands at an altitude of 2000 to 5900 feet.
In wild the Bismarck palm grows on laterite soils which is rich in iron and aluminium.
In its natural habitat fires are normal, and the Bismarck palm has developed various adaptations to fire.
